County Durham Food Bank works with The Trussell Trust to provide emergency food and support to those in need. We are the only official Food Bank in Bishop Auckland. In the UK, more than 14 million people are living in poverty. Whilst we work towards long-term change, it is important that we provide compassionate, dignified support to those who are struggling. We receive food donations from a number of different places, which our staff and volunteers then put together into emergency food parcels
to ensure that nobody has to go hungry.

In the UK, more than 14 million people are living in poverty. Whilst we work towards long-term change, it is important that we provide compassionate, dignified support to those who are struggling. We receive food donations from a number of different places, which our staff and volunteers then put together into emergency food parcels to ensure that nobody has to go hungry.

Not only do we provide emergency food, but we also provide additional support to help people break free from poverty by resolving the crises they’re facing so they don’t need to use a food bank again in the future. This could be anything such as debt advice, housing support, and mental health guidance.

 Are You In Crisis?
Are you struggling to buy food for you and your family, or do you know someone who is?

To access our food bank, you need a referral from The Trussell Trust. To get a referral, call The Trussell Trust on 0191 3037559 and tell them you live in Bishop Auckland and you would like to attend Angel Trust Food Bank. On the phone,

you will be asked a few questions about your situation by a trained food bank advisor. If you’re not sure whether or not you’re eligible, call The Trussell Trust and they will be able to assist you further. Please note that if you receive a referral you will be required to travel to us to access your food parcel.

 How You Can Help
You can help out our Food Bank by donating food. If you have anything that you can give to our food bank, we would greatly appreciate it

We are always looking for food donations and we will accept any donation, no matter how big or small, and nothing will go to waste!

Some of the things that you might want to donate include cereals, tinned soups & stew, pasta, rice, & pasta sauce, tinned meat & fish, tinned beans & vegetables, tinned fruit, condiments & spices, cooking oils, long life juice & milk, and toiletries.

You can donate by simply dropping off your surplus food, shopping at a local supermarket and delivering it to us, shopping online and delivering directly to us, or leaving a donation at one of our food donation points. Our food donation points are located in many places across Bishop Auckland.

Another way in which you can help out is by donating a food shop. Your donation will allow us to provide someone with a basket full of food. You can donate a food shop below.
