New Trustee joins Angel Trust Charity amidst rapid growth

The Angel Trust charity, which supports individuals and families across County Durham has welcomed a new Trustee to its existing board.

​

Nicola Harmer has joined the current board of trustees, amidst a year of growth and expansion for the independent Charity.

​

As a mental health nurse for over 20 years, Nicola brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Trust, offering expert advice on the operation and ongoing expansion of the Angel Trust. The Charity, now in its 8th year has diversified its services to meet the needs of vulnerable individuals across County Durham, offering mental wellbeing support, an in-house foodbank and operating a Safe Night Hub to provide emergency accommodation for those who are facing homelessness.

Nicola has always been a keen supporter of Angel Trust, over the last couple of years, notably taking part in various fundraising events and signposting clients to the Trust. In her new role as Trustee, Nicola, alongside the other Trustees and the CEO Clair McGregor will advise on new initiatives for the Charity, assessing funding applications and helping the Angel Trust navigate a year filled with growth and expansion.

Speaking on her appointment, Nicola, who lives locally to the Bishop Auckland-based Charity said, “I am so excited to be joining the Angel Trust as a Trustee. I am committed to the Charity and feel so passionately about the work it does, with a strong background in Mental Wellbeing, I have seen first hand the work that the Angel Trust does for our community. The in-house counsellors can offer support to people from all backgrounds, and this is something I care deeply about both personally and professionally”

CEO of the Angel Trust, Clair McGregor said, “We are so proud that somebody with Nicola’s professional experience has joined our board. The Charity has always been for the people, and we are continuing to diversify our services to meet the needs of local clients, and Nicola compliments this perfectly.
